Bermuda international Sachiel Ming played a key role as Syracuse men’s soccer secured an impressive 2-1 away victory over 24th-ranked UConn at Morrone Stadium.
The Orange made their breakthrough in the 28th minute when sophomore newcomer Jordan Grey opened the scoring, latching onto an assist from Ming to break the deadlock.
Syracuse doubled their advantage just over three minutes later. Grey turned provider in the 32nd minute, setting up freshman Gabriel Oksanen to drill a right-footed strike into the bottom-right corner.
UConn found a lifeline on the stroke of half-time when Elijah Langford pulled one back in the 45th minute to reduce the deficit heading into the interval.
The visitors dictated the tempo for large spells, outshooting the Huskies 13-8, including eight efforts on target to UConn's five.
Syracuse's backline produced a disciplined defensive display after the restart, repelling the Huskies throughout the second half to preserve their slender advantage and seal a vital non-conference win on the road.
