The Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championship gets underway on Friday, June 26th with the Men’s Championship, Ladies Championship and Senior Men’s Championship divisions take to the Port Royal Golf Course.
2025 champion, Jarryd Dillas returns to defend his title against a strong field that includes the likes of Eric West, Daniel Holland, Will Haddrell, Mikus Ming and up and coming talents Dylan Muso, Arman Newton and Johnny Bart.
Oliver Betschart isn’t in the field, as his first-place finish at the Bermuda Match Play Championship earned him an exemption into the prestigious North-South Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina also being held this weekend.
In the Senior Men’s Championship, defending Champion Nick Fernandez hasn’t returned to defend his title so former winners Robert Vallis, Arthur Jones and Hav Trott will be looking to put together three good rounds to challenge for the title. Others to keep an eye on are frequent visitor Tony Ravenda and locals, Sheldon Chychrun, Steven Perry and Alec Anderson who have produced some consistent rounds this season.
In the Ladies Championship, the inform Tracy Burgess will be defending her title against a formidable field which includes the likes of Sienna Mosquera, who is fresh off a good collegiate season along with Morgan Lightbourne and veterans Katrin Burnie, Linda Down, Ann Symonds and Tracy Nash.
2024 winner, Kim Botelho will be the ‘dark horse’ in the field, as she is making a return to competitive golf after a lengthy absence. Young teenager, Darina Betschart isn’t in the field as like her brother, she is in Pinehurst, North Carolina competing in the Junior North-South Tournament.
The First Flight Division will consist of 36 holes played on Saturday and Sunday. The First Flight has 18 participants which includes some very low handicaps that should make the competition extremely tight at the top of the leaderboard.
The Junior Division has 8 participants and will play 36 holes on Friday and Saturday with the likes of Bradford Laing, Joshua Cann and Grayson Tavares, who has just returned from boarding school. One to keep an eye on will be newcomer, Kolton Matthews who is playing in his first local tournament.
