The formidable Bermudian sibling duo of Oliver and Darina Betschart faced a stern examination of their resolve as they continued their campaigns at the prestigious North & South Junior Amateur Championship on the historic fairways of the Pinehurst Golf Course.
Navigating Pinehurst's notoriously deceptive greens and punishing layout, both players had to display immense tactical patience during a high-stakes second round.
In the Girls' Division, Darina Betschart carded a 10-over-par round of 82 to navigate her second 18 holes. Displaying excellent grit on the par-fours, her scorecard consisted of 10 solid pars, seven bogeys, and a single costly triple bogey. The performance leaves her sitting in a tie for 77th place overall at 24-over-par heading into the next phase of play.
Meanwhile, in the Boys' Field, Oliver Betschart engineered a resilient fightback to card a 4-over-par 74. His second-round effort was anchored by a highly disciplined display, featuring two brilliant birdies and 10 pars, offset by six bogeys.
The gritty 74 ensures Oliver sits in a tie for 54th place overall at 11-over-par, keeping him firmly in the mix in a heavily congested international leaderboard.
With Pinehurst continuing to offer little margin for error, both Bermudian prospects will look to dial in their iron play and find consistency on the rolling complexes as they aim to climb the standings.
