Bermuda’s national swimming pathway made an explosive start at the prestigious 70th Annual Eastern Invitational, capturing a sensational relay gold and a flurry of top-tier final placements on the opening night of action inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

A powerful 12-strong squad representing the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) descended on the elite North Carolina long-course meet to test themselves against the United States East Coast's premier age-group and senior talent.

The opening finals session produced an immediate podium masterpiece in the Mixed 200m Freestyle Relays.

Bermuda's 'A' team combination of Elanna Fulton, Katherine Wheddon, Gabriel Maranzana, and Noah Maranzana put on a clinical display of raw speed and flawless transitions. The quartet tore through the water to stop the clock in a blistering 1:45.83, holding off a fierce field to claim a magnificent gold medal.

The island's depth was further illustrated minutes later in the same event. The 'B' relay unit, featuring Logan Jones, Athena Dyer, Jorgia White, and Dominic Wright, delivered an incredibly gutty performance to secure a superb bronze medal with a time of 1:48.65, completing a dominant relay showing for the touring contingent.

On an individual front, Logan Jones carried the torch in the individual senior divisions, showcasing his versatile prowess against elite fields in the 15 & Over brackets.

Jones earned a well-deserved place in the highly competitive 'B' final of the 200m Freestyle, fighting through the heavy wash to clock a strong seventh-place finish. Refusing to relent, he returned to the blocks for the 100m Butterfly 'B' final, executing a beautifully calculated race strategy to power home in an impressive fourth place.

With multiple swimmers already hunting down qualifying standards for the 2026 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, this golden opening night lays down a perfect foundation for the rest of the grueling three-day meet.
