Bermuda’s Kyle Hamilton and Brandon Sousa brought down the curtain on their grueling Dominican Republic tour on a high, securing an impressive 11th-place finish on the final day of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in San Salvador.

The Bermudian duo, who have shown immense resilience across three demanding days of international competition, saved their most clinical performance for last to ensure they ended their campaign on a winning note.

Facing off against the United States Virgin Islands pair of A’jahnai Merchant and De Andrae Taylor in a high-stakes classification playoff to determine 11th and 12th place, Hamilton and Sousa produced a tactical masterclass to win in straight sets, 21-14, 21-18.

The opening set saw Hamilton and Sousa assert their authority early on the sand. Finding their rhythm with aggressive serving and transition defense, the Bermudian pair comfortably pulled away to take the opener 21-14, capitalizing on unforced errors from the USVI duo.

Merchant and Taylor mounted a spirited fightback in the second set, adjusting their blocking strategy to lock down the net. However, with the scoreline tightly poised at the business end of the set, Hamilton's composure at the net and Sousa's coverage in the backcourt proved decisive.

The Bermudians held their nerve to close out the set 21-18, triggering celebrations on the court after a grueling tournament run.

The straight-sets victory marks a significant milestone for Bermuda's beach volleyball program on the continental stage. The NORCECA Tour regularly features the finest pairing talent from across North, Central America, and the Caribbean, making any positional ascent a hard-fought achievement.

For Hamilton and Sousa, the performance provides a vital confidence boost and a wealth of ranking points as they transition out of the Dominican Republic tour phase. Having proved they can dictate terms against regional rivals, the duo will look to carry this momentum into their next international block.
