Warwick Academy have been crowned the 2026 Bermuda School Sports Federation's Middle School Boys Super 8s cricket champions after producing a clinical performance to dismantle Saltus Grammar School in the grand finale.
Competing at the picturesque White Hill Field, Warwick's technical discipline on the field proved the definitive difference. Winning the toss and electing to bowl, the newly crowned champions choked the run rate from the opening delivery, systematically dismantling the Saltus batting order and restricting them to a modest total of 43 runs from their allotted overs.
Asa Trew-Smith offered the lone structural resistance for Saltus with a hard-fought 17 runs, while Cassano Dickenson chipped in with 14, but the target always appeared well below par against a high-firing Warwick lineup.
The second-innings chase developed into a straightforward assignment for the Warwick batsmen, who utilized an aggressive, high-tempo baseline to completely take control of the contest.
Losing just two wickets along the way, Warwick needed a mere 4.1 overs to aggressively hunt down the target and halt the match. Opener Lewis Macfarlane spearheaded the charge, anchoring the chase with a sharp 17 runs before capping off his magnificent afternoon by hitting a boundary to cross the line and seal an emphatic victory.
While the final proved a one-sided affair, the path to the showcase match delivered immense tournament drama during the morning semi-final brackets.
Saltus Grammar School punched their ticket to the finale following a thrilling, down-to-the-wire escape against The Whitney Institute Middle School. Trew-Smith was the undisputed star of the morning, unleashing a brutal, boundary-laden display to smash a blistering 43 runs—a high-octane knock highlighted by an astonishing seven towering sixes.
Saltus set a daunting target of 68, but Whitney mounted a ferocious counter-assault, falling agonizingly just two runs short on 66 as the final over concluded. In the adjacent semi-final bracket, Warwick Academy smoothly navigated their own high-stakes assignment, comfortably defeating a physical Sandys Secondary Middle School lineup to set up their eventual championship coronation.
