The “Girls Play Cricket Too” initiative aims to introduce more girls to the sport, increase participation, and encourage long-term engagement with cricket through inclusive opportunities, coaching, and community involvement.
The initiative will launch with a festival on June 13, 2026, featuring skills development activities, fun mini-games, and opportunities for girls to experience and engage with cricket in an inclusive and supportive environment. The target group for the Girls Play Cricket Too Festival is primary-aged girls aged 7 to 11.
Interested participants can register using the following link: (Girls Play Cricket Too Festival Registration). The festival will be held at Warwick Academy between 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
The day will begin with participants rotating through cricket skill-development activities, before progressing to fun mini-cricket games. Following the lunch break, Brianna Ray will share her cricketing journey with the girls, including a question-and-answer session designed to inspire and encourage young female cricketers.
The day will conclude with participant presentations, followed by a photo opportunity and autograph session with Brianna Ray and the coaching staff.
Helping to spearhead the initiative is Brianna Ray. Ray is a Bermudian cricketer known for her medium-pace bowling and her commitment to inspiring female cricketers in Bermuda. She has played for the Flatts Victoria Recreation Club cricket team in the Bermuda Cricket Board’s First Division and made a seismic impact in Bermuda cricket by becoming only the second female to play in the BCB Premier Division, representing Somerset Cricket Club.
Her rise in the top flight included impressive performances for Somerset Cricket Club against St. David’s and Southampton Rangers in her recent T20 Premier Division debut. She has also participated in the prestigious Cup Match trials, further highlighting her talent, determination, and commitment to developing cricket in Bermuda. Ray’s cricket journey has also included valuable international experience, playing for Loughborough University’s Women’s Performance team,
The Blaze in England, South Perth Cricket Club in Australia, and serving as a sub-fielder for England during both the Ashes and the Pakistan series. Her dedication to the sport, combined with her ambitions to grow the women’s game, continues to inspire many young players across Bermuda. This is highlighted by her numerous wins of the Minister’s Award for Cricket.
After spending time in England and Australia, Ray recently returned to Bermuda and is working to promote women’s cricket and encourage more girls to take up the sport. Brianna is an outstanding ambassador for women in sport and a genuine role model whose passion, experience, and leadership will help inspire and support the continued growth and development of girls’ youth cricket across Bermuda.
