Tomlinson & Papplewick Fall to a Heavy Defeat to Sileby

A commanding unbeaten century from opener Henry Rogers propelled Sileby Town CC to a convincing seven-wicket win over Papplewick and Linby CC.

In a clinical display of chasing, the Sileby batsmen made light work of a 201-run target, ensuring the visitors’ efforts with the bat were ultimately in vain during a one-sided afternoon of cricket.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Sileby Town’s bowling attack immediately found its rhythm. Papplewick and Linby struggled to build significant momentum throughout their 40 overs, eventually being restricted to 200 for 9.

Ben Shaw offered the most resistance for the hosts, top-scoring with a gritty 48, while Bermudian prospect Zeri Tomlinson chipped in with 14 before being dismissed. The standout performer with the ball was undoubtedly Harry Bates, who dismantled the middle order to finish with impressive figures of 3 for 36 from his seven overs.

The chase was dominated by a singular performance. Sileby Town’s Henry Rogers anchored the innings with a brilliant, chanceless knock of 105. His century provided the backbone of the reply, allowing the visitors to reach 206 for 3 with comfortable ease.

The Papplewick bowling unit found breakthroughs hard to come by in the face of Rogers' dominance. Alex Moor was the most economical and effective of the attack, finishing his eight-over spell with figures of 1 for 29, but it wasn't enough to stem the flow of runs.
