Zebras Edge Robin Hood as Colts Hold Hornets

IslandStats.com
A low-scoring but high-intensity Under-23 double-header at Bernard Park saw the PHC Zebras announce their arrival in the competition, while a resilient Devonshire Colts earned a hard-fought point against the Dandy Town Hornets.

PHC 2 Robin Hood 1

The opening encounter of the evening saw the PHC Zebras kick off their campaign with a clinical 2–1 victory over Robin Hood. Having sat out the opening week with a bye, the Zebras showed no signs of rust, asserting their dominance early in the first half.

The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Yeshai Burgess found the back of the net to give PHC the lead. The Zebras didn't wait long to consolidate their advantage; just six minutes later, Hayden Dill doubled the tally, leaving Robin Hood with a mountain to climb at the interval.

Robin Hood, who "won" their opening fixture last week via a forfeit without taking to the pitch, struggled to find their rhythm against a disciplined Zebras backline. They did manage to set up a grandstand finish when Sebastian Davis pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute, but the PHC defense held firm to secure all three points.

Devonshire Colts 0 Dandy Town Hornets 0

In the nightcap, the Devonshire Colts produced a vastly improved performance to hold the Dandy Town Hornets to a 0–0 stalemate. It was a vital result for the Colts, who were looking to restore pride following a bruising 6–0 defeat to North Village in their competition opener.

The Hornets arrived at Bernard Park searching for a second consecutive win after their narrow 1–0 victory over Somerset Eagles last week. However, they found a different Devonshire side this time around. While the Colts have now gone 180 minutes without scoring a goal in the tournament, their defensive unit put in a monumental shift to frustrate the Dandy Town front line.

The draw leaves the Hornets undefeated but likely frustrated at the missed opportunity to go top, while the Colts will take immense confidence from a clean sheet against one of the league's most potent attacking sides.
