Record-Breaking Keeper Trott Joins Cardiff Permanently

IslandStats.com
Cardiff City have confirmed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Nathan Trott from Danish giants F.C. København following a standout promotion campaign.

The 27-year-old initially arrived at the Cardiff City Stadium on loan at the start of the 2025/26 season and wasted no time making his mark in South Wales. Trott etched his name into the Bluebirds' history books almost immediately, breaking a long-standing club record by recording five consecutive clean sheets in his first five league appearances.

A cornerstone of Brian Barry-Murphy’s promotion-winning side, the Bermudian-born stopper made 41 appearances in Sky Bet League One. His consistent performances earned him a Player of the Season nomination and made a permanent move the club's top priority this summer.

Trott has now put pen to paper on a three-year deal, keeping him in the Welsh capital until the summer of 2029. Speaking after completing the formalities, the keeper admitted the move had been a long time coming.

"It’s something that I’ve wanted to get across the line," Trott told the club's official website. "Through the course of the season, I think that all of us were on the same page to get it done, so for it to finally be done now is an amazing feeling."

Trott credited the squad's chemistry and the leadership of Barry-Murphy as key factors in his decision to commit his long-term future to the club. "We’ve got a good group of players; a good core of young players, the Welsh boys, a few experienced players, and I think we all just gel together really well."

The Bluebirds' faithful have played a significant role in the move, with Trott highlighting the "special environment" created by the supporters both at home and on the road.

As Cardiff prepare for life back in the second tier, Trott is relishing the opportunity to test himself on a bigger stage. "I’m excited for the Championship," he added. "I think everyone saw what I’m capable of this season, but nobody’s really seen anything yet in terms of what I can do at a higher level."
