Bermuda’s elite female golfers have extended their advantage at the 46th Annual Kitty Michaels Ladies Invitational in Curaçao, producing a clinical second round to remain the team to beat.
Under the sweltering Caribbean sun, the squad displayed remarkable consistency to lead the Gross Division by seven shots over their nearest rivals from Southwest Florida.
Captain Tracy Burgess continues to be the standout performer of the tournament, delivering a composed six-over par 78 on the second day. Her round, which was highlighted by three birdies and nine pars, has seen her pull ten shots clear of St. Croix’s Donna Basil at the summit of the individual Gross Division. Burgess’s ability to navigate the tricky course layout has provided the foundation for Bermuda's surge toward the title.
The battle for the Net Division is proving equally compelling, with Maria Harris firmly in the hunt for top honours. Harris carded a second-round 78, featuring four birdies, to sit in a tie for second place. She currently trails the leader from Southwest Florida by just four strokes, while teammates Burgess and Katyna Rabain occupy the eighth and tenth spots respectively in a crowded leaderboard.
Bermuda’s collective depth was further underlined by the upward mobility of Katyna Rabain and Tracy Nash. Rabain climbed into ninth position following a battling 12-over par 84, while Nash moved up to 14th place after signing for an 86. Their improved positioning has bolstered the team's standing in the net competition, where Bermuda currently sits in second place, trailing the host nation Curaçao by only four shots.
With one day of play remaining, the Bermudian contingent appears well-placed to secure a historic double victory. The combination of Burgess’s individual dominance and the squad’s overall resilience has established Bermuda as the firm favourites as the tournament reaches its climax.
