Team Bermuda Begin Elite CAC Games Camp

IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s national men’s bowling team is set for a grueling transformation this weekend as they begin a series of high-intensity training camps ahead of this summer’s Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo.

The squad will undergo the first of four intensive sessions under the watchful eye of world-renowned American coach Joe Slowinski. A USBC Gold Coach with over 40 years of experience, Slowinski arrives with a glittering resume that includes coaching Team Brazil to Pan American Gold in 2015 and a long-standing tenure at the elite Kegel Training Center in Florida.

The appointment marks a significant statement of intent for Bermudian bowling. Slowinski, a pioneer in applying sports science and biomechanics to the lanes, has laid out a "rigorous" schedule that will force players to dismantle and rebuild their approach.

"This has been a long-time dream," said Team Manager Steven Riley. "To have a coach of Joe’s expertise coaching Team Bermuda has been in the pipeline for some time. Now that it’s a reality, it’s a dream come true—not just for the national team, but for the future of the sport in Bermuda."

The camp, made possible through sponsorship from FAR Holding Ltd, will see players subjected to deep-dive analytics. Training drills will cover everything from release fine-tuning and spare shooting to biomechanical video analysis and mental conditioning. In a move aimed at long-term development, several of the island’s promising junior bowlers have also been invited to shadow the senior squad.

Riley has issued a clear challenge to his players: step out of the comfort zone. "I feel this is exactly what is needed to take us to the next level," he added.

The stakes are high. At the conclusion of these camps, Slowinski will have the final say in selecting the six-man roster tasked with representing the Gombey Warriors in Santo Domingo. For those in the squad, the road to the CAC Games starts with a weekend of sweat, science, and high-pressure strikes.
