Neath CC 120/4 Tata Steel CC 121/2
The pre-season preparations for Tata Steel CC continued in impressive fashion as they secured an eight-wicket victory over Neath CC in a rain-affected T20 friendly.
In a match reduced to 18 overs per side, Neath were put in to bat first and struggled to find consistent momentum against a disciplined Tata Steel attack. Despite a classy half-century from O Amis, who anchored the innings with 51, the hosts were restricted to 120 for 4.
Bermudian international Jaiden Manders proved to be the standout performer with the ball for the visitors. Showing excellent control in the shorter format, Manders returned the most economical figures of the innings, claiming one wicket for just 17 runs during his three-over spell.
The chase from Tata Steel was clinical and composed. The visitors reached their target with two overs to spare, finishing on 121 for 2. T Rees led the scoring with a solid 34, but Manders ensured it was a productive all-round day for himself by adding a brisk 30 to help steer his side home.
While G John provided some resistance for Neath, claiming one for nine from his three overs, it was not enough to halt the momentum of a Tata Steel side that looks increasingly sharp as the competitive season approaches.
