The Bermuda Volleyball Association (BVA) has confirmed the selection of two elite pairings to represent the island at the upcoming ECVA Senior Beach Volleyball Championships in St. Lucia.
Taking place from May 1st to 3rd, the tournament will see Bermuda’s top sand specialists compete against the finest talent from across the Caribbean in a bid to solidify their standing as a regional powerhouse.
On the men’s side, all eyes will be on Ben Barnett and Sean Tucker, who return to the championship hunt following a stellar silver-medal performance in 2025. Having come within touching distance of the title last year, the pair have been vocal about their ambitions to go one step further.
"The goal for this year is simple," said Barnett. "To improve on last year’s result by bringing home gold. We’re ready to fight for it."
His partner, Tucker, echoed the sentiment, noting that the duo have utilized the off-season to refine their technical game. "Last year’s result showed what we’re capable of, and we’ve put in the work since then to come back stronger," Tucker added. "We’re focused, motivated, and ready to compete at a high level."
The women’s bracket will see a fresh partnership take to the court, as Kayley Hamilton and Hailey Trott prepare for their international debut as a duo. While the pairing is new, both athletes boast significant experience on the ECVA and NORCECA circuits, bringing a blend of defensive agility and tactical serving to the sand.
"It’s an honor to be able to represent Bermuda," Hamilton said. "The 2025 championships showed what the island is capable of, and we’re committed to defending that standard and proving we can go one step further."
Trott shared the enthusiasm for the St. Lucian challenge, stating: "We are proud to represent Bermuda, and ready to give it everything we have."
Preparation for the championships has been rigorous. The women’s team has been training under the direct guidance of National Beach Team Head Coach Ben Barnett, while both squads have benefited from the extensive technical expertise of Coach Rick Bevis.
The BVA has reiterated its commitment to strengthening Bermuda’s international presence, providing full support to the athletes as they look to transition from the local rinks to the podium in St. Lucia.
