Notts & Arnold Amateur CC 209 Papplewick and Linby CC 210/3

Zeri Tomlinson played a starring role with the bat as Papplewick and Linby CC secured a dominant seven-wicket victory over Notts & Arnold Amateur CC in the Nottinghamshire Premier League.

In a clinical display at the Papplewick Hall Ground, the hosts chased down a target of 210 with minimum fuss, underpinned by a century stand that left the visitors without answers.

Earlier in the day, Notts & Arnold had elected to bat first after winning the toss, but they struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Papplewick attack. Despite a gritty 54 from Josh Mierkalns, the innings was dismantled by the superb Elliott Massey.

Massey was the undisputed pick of the bowlers, returning remarkable figures of 5 for 36 from 8.1 overs. His ability to strike at regular intervals ensured the visitors were bowled out for 209, a total that appeared slightly under-par on a favorable batting surface.

The chase began steadily, but it was the fourth-wicket pairing of Ben Shaw and Zeri Tomlinson that effectively ended the contest. The duo combined for an unbeaten 110-run partnership, blending patience with calculated aggression to navigate the target.

Shaw led the scoring with a masterful 83 not out, but he found a perfect partner in Tomlinson. The Bermudian international finished just shy of a half-century, remaining unbeaten on 49 from 68 deliveries. Tomlinson’s knock was punctuated by five boundaries and two towering sixes, showcasing the power that has made him a key figure for Papplewick this season.

The victory sees Papplewick and Linby continue their strong form in the Premier League, with the middle-order stability provided by Shaw and Tomlinson proving to be the decisive factor.
