Jarryd Dillas and Sheldon Chychrun have secured the top seeding positions at the 2026 Bermuda Match Play Championship after a challenging day of stroke play at the iconic Port Royal Golf Course.
In the Men’s Championship Division, Jarryd Dillas demonstrated his class on the undulating greens of Southampton, navigating the coastal winds to sign for a one-over-par 72. His steady performance ensures he enters the knockout phase as the man to beat. Close on his heels was Arman Newton, fresh off his Talcott Cedarberry Bowl win and is the youngest competitor at 12 years old in the men’s championship claimed the second seed with a resilient round of 73, while the young and talented Oliver Betschart secured the third spot following a three-over-par 74.
The Senior Men’s Division was equally competitive, though the scoring reflected the difficult afternoon conditions. Sheldon Chychrun proved to be the most consistent performer in the field, finishing at seven-over-par 78 to take the number one seed. Craig Christensen finished two strokes back at nine-over to claim the second position, while Steven Perry rounded out the top three with a ten-over-par 81.
With the stroke play qualifying now complete, the stage is set for a weekend of intense match play. Under the tournament’s traditional format, the top seeds will now face those at the bottom of the qualifying ladder in a winner-takes-all battle for a place in the quarter-finals.
