Dylan Muso faced a testing day on the greens as the 53rd Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Tournament lived up to its reputation for unpredictability during a grueling second round.
They say no two days are alike in championship golf, and that proved to be the case for the McDaniel College standout in North Carolina. After a scintillating opening-round 68 that saw him sit just one stroke off the lead, Muso found scoring significantly more difficult as he carded a three-over-par 75.
The Bermudian’s second round was a story of grit and damage limitation. Muso managed two birdies and 11 pars but found himself fighting the course for much of the afternoon, ultimately recording five bogeys. Despite the setback, his four-under-par cushion from the opening day keeps him firmly in the top ten, ending the round in a tie for eighth place at one-under par overall.
The shift in conditions was felt across the Green Terror roster. As a team, McDaniel struggled to replicate their opening-day heroics, slipping into a tie for fourth place at eight-over par. While they remain within striking distance of the podium, they will require a collective surge in the final round to close the gap on the leaders.
With the final 18 holes looming, Muso remains McDaniel's best hope for individual silverware. If he can rediscover the clinical form that defined his opening round, a surge back up the leaderboard is well within reach on a course that has already shown it can take away just as quickly as it gives.
