The leaderboard underwent a significant shake-up as the third annual Talcott Cedarberry Bowl moved to the Five Forts Golf Course for its second round. The East End layout proved to be a stern test of nerves and precision, with high winds and technical greens forcing the island's top juniors to battle for every par.
In the 16-18 Blue Championship Division, Arman Newton has seized a commanding lead after a gritty performance. Newton carded a six-over-par 68, a round that featured two birdies and nine pars. Despite a late double bogey, his consistency was enough to move him to six-over for the tournament. Overnight co-leader Oliver Betschart struggled to find his rhythm, posting an 11-over-par 83 that included a costly triple bogey. The shift leaves Betschart in second place at 11-over par overall, while Johnny Bart remains in contention in third at 16-over following a solid 70.
The 14-15 Boys and Girls White Championship Division witnessed the most dramatic swing of the day. Antonio Fortuna and Charlie Hopkin, who began the round in a tie for third, now share the summit at 21-over par. Both players carded identical 11-over 73s to leapfrog the overnight leaders. Hopkin’s round was a highlight-reel effort containing two birdies and eight pars, while Fortuna relied on a steady seven pars to navigate the tricky conditions. Former leader Lachlan Soutter slipped to third after a difficult 83 left him at 30-over par.
Meanwhile, Lewis MacFarlane emerged as the dominant force in the 12-13 Red Championship Division. MacFarlane’s six-over-par 68—bolstered by two birdies and 10 pars—sees him lead the field at 11-over par. He holds a significant advantage over Austin Frank, who sits in second at 33-over, while Hugo Adams and Maxence Garnier remain deadlocked in third.
