Dylan Muso produced a clinical opening round in North Carolina to propel McDaniel College into second place at the 53rd Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
The Green Terror navigated a demanding first 18 holes at the Paradise Point Golf Course to finish the day at a combined one-over par. The score sees them currently tied for second in the team standings, firmly positioned in the podium conversation as the three-day NCAA Division III event intensifies.
Leading the charge for McDaniel was Muso, who sits third on the individual leaderboard following a brilliant four-under-par performance. The Bermudian standout trails the early pace-setters by just a single stroke, putting himself in prime position for a run at the individual title over the weekend.
Muso’s round was a masterclass in scoring efficiency. He carded six birdies and found a consistent rhythm on the greens with 10 pars, which proved more than enough to offset two minor bogeys. His ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities during the back nine provided a vital momentum shift for the squad as they battled for position in a crowded field.
With two rounds remaining in Jacksonville, the focus for Muso and his teammates now shifts to maintaining their consistency. The Green Terror have shown they have the depth to compete at the top of the leaderboard, and with Muso finding his form at the ideal moment, the prospects for a landmark victory on the mainland look increasingly promising.
