The Dandy Town Hornets have been crowned the Bermuda Premier Division champions following a pulsating final day of the season that saw them overcome a spirited St. George’s Colts to secure the title.
St. George’s Colts 1 Dandy Town Hornets 2
Entering the afternoon at the Wellington Oval knowing a win would guarantee the silverware, the Hornets were given an early scare when player-coach Drewonde Bascome put the hosts ahead in the 18th minute. The leaders showed the mettle of champions by responding almost immediately, with Nizigh Spence restoring parity just sixty seconds later.
The sides remained deadlocked at the interval, but the decisive moment arrived in the 63rd minute when the league's leading marksman, David Jones, found a pocket of space to fire a low, clinical strike into the corner of the net. The Hornets navigated a tense final 27 minutes to spark jubilant celebrations as the final whistle confirmed their status as the island's best.
Young Men Social Club 2 Devonshire Colts 4
At the Police Field, the Devonshire Colts did everything in their power to snatch the trophy, recording a 4-2 victory over Young Men’s Social Club to finish the campaign as runners-up.
Elisha Darrell set the tone with two goals in the opening 12 minutes to put the Colts in command. Although Zeiko Lewis briefly threatened a comeback for Social Club in the 26th minute, Chemarl Henry restored the two-goal cushion just before the break.
A Senoj Mitchell penalty in the 57th minute effectively ended the contest as a spectacle, despite a second goal from Lewis later in the half, leaving the Colts to reflect on a gallant chase that fell just short of the summit.
PHC Zebras 0 Boulevard Blazers 1
The battle for third place concluded at the PHC Stadium, where the PHC Zebras suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Boulevard Blazers.
In what was only their second win of a difficult campaign, the already-relegated Blazers produced a resolute performance defined by Keedai Astwood’s 25th-minute strike.
The Zebras were unable to find a way through a stubborn defensive line, though they did enough over the course of the season to remain on the final step of the podium.
Paget Lions 1 North Village Rams 1
Elsewhere, the mid-table spoils were shared at White Hill Field as the North Village Rams and Paget Lions played out a competitive 1-1 draw.
Xave Smith had given the Lions a deserved lead in the 32nd minute, but the Rams rallied after the restart. Jai Bean found the equalizer in the 54th minute to ensure both sides finished their seasons with a point, bringing the curtain down on a memorable year of Bermudian top-flight football.
