Isaki Sakashita produced a composed final-round performance at Port Royal to overhaul her teammate and claim the individual title as Stetson University completed a clean sweep at the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate.
On a day where the challenging Atlantic gusts continued to test the field's resolve, Sakashita started the final round trailing overnight leader Ailsa Brannock. However, a gritty three-over par 74—bolstered by four crucial birdies—saw her surge past her compatriot to secure the top prize on the iconic Southampton course.
It was a frustrating afternoon for Brannock, who had led the field through the opening 36 holes. Despite a resilient front nine, a seven-over par 78 saw her slip into second place, finishing four strokes adrift of the champion. Wofford’s Bella Kent rounded out the podium in third, battling through a difficult ten-over par 81 that included three birdies but was ultimately undone by a series of costly double and triple bogeys.
In the team standings, Stetson’s dominance was absolute. Finishing with a combined three-round total of 48-over par, they secured the championship with a staggering 32-stroke margin. The University of Albany and Wofford could not be separated in the race for the runner-up spot, eventually finishing tied for second at 80-over par.
For the local galleries, there was plenty of encouragement in the performance of Bermudian golfer Sienna Mosquera. Representing Lehigh University, Mosquera saved her best for last, carding a disciplined final-round 78 that featured ten pars and a birdie. Her efforts saw her climb the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 21st at 26-over par, while her Lehigh teammates secured a seventh-place finish in the overall standings.
As the curtain falls on this year's tournament, Stetson depart the island as the undisputed class of the field. For Sakashita, the victory marks a significant milestone in her collegiate career, proving that even in the most demanding Bermudian conditions, composure and tactical discipline remain the ultimate keys to success.
