Bermuda’s Oliver and Darina Betschart produced a pair of clinical performances to secure second-place finishes at the Prestige Tour Hill Country Open in San Antonio recently.
The Srixon Prestige Tour is for juniors ages 11-18* and is the most competitive program that the STPGA has to offer. It is geared towards the best players in the state of Texas.
Competing at the challenging Hill Country Golf Club, the siblings demonstrated the tactical consistency that has seen them become regular fixtures on the junior leaderboards in Texas. In the Girls 11-14 Age Group Division, Darina Betschart navigated a testing layout to claim the runner-up spot after carding an eight-over-par 80. Her round was a study in resilience, featuring ten steady pars and a vital birdie to offset a difficult triple bogey and stay firmly in contention at the top of the standings.
The momentum continued in the Boys 15-18 Age Group Division, where Oliver Betschart matched his sister’s achievement with a composed display of ball-striking. Oliver finished in a tie for second place after shooting a highly impressive one-over-par 73. His round was anchored by thirteen pars and a pair of birdies, with only three bogeys across the eighteen holes preventing him from taking the top spot on the podium.
The double success in San Antonio marks another significant milestone for the Betscharts as they continue to refine their games against elite regional competition. Both players showed an ability to manage the course effectively under pressure, reinforcing their reputations as two of the most promising young talents currently representing the island on the international junior circuit.
