Storm Surge & Tigers Secure Dominant Premier Division Victories

IslandStats.com
The netball season has reached a critical juncture with a weekend of high-scoring encounters across all age groups, highlighted by a statement win for Storm Surge in the Premier Division. In a tightly contested premier fixture, Storm Surge overcame Phoenix Heat with a 33–25 victory, driven by a 20-goal haul from Jasmyn Renfroe and a clinical supporting performance from Selah Tuzo. Despite the defensive efforts of K’xiyae Gibbons, the Heat were unable to close the gap, though Ebonie Cox earned MVP honours for her tireless work in the circle.

The afternoon’s most prolific display came from the Tigers, who dismantled St. George’s 51–12 in a one-sided Premier Division clash. Jahkenya Trott led the charge with 21 goals, while Jahtuere Trott and Candance Paynter ensured the scoreboard remained active throughout the four quarters. Khianda Pearman-Watson was named the standout player for the Tigers, as St. George’s struggled to find an answer to the relentless attacking pressure.

In the First Division, Storm Nexgen produced a dominant 38–14 win over Hamilton Parish, with J’Zari Zuill-Dillas and Jamir Hatherley combining for 28 goals. Phoenix Flames also enjoyed a successful outing, defeating DC Diamonds 33–15, spearheaded by Caillia Joell’s 14-goal contribution. Joell proved to be a dual-threat on the day, also featuring prominently in the 16-and-under division where she netted another 14 goals for Phoenix Fire in a narrow 24–21 loss to Storm.

The youth divisions saw equally compelling action at the expansive courts. North Village Lady Rams claimed a comprehensive 28–12 win over Dandy Stars in the 16-and-under category, led by S'mai Tyrrell and E'rynn Paynter. In the 13-and-under bracket, Storm Lightning defeated the Lady Rams 20–7, while Phoenix Embers secured a massive 17–1 victory over Storm Thunder, with Quin Burgess clinical in front of the post.

The youngest competitors in the 10-and-under division showcased their development in two spirited games. A'meenah Simmons was named MVP as Phoenix Sparks faced off against NVCC, while Kanji Armstrong took top honours for Storm in their encounter with the Dandy Stars. The depth of talent across the age groups suggests a bright future for the national programme as the league season moves into its final phase.
