Bermuda Volleyball Stars Battle in Boston

IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s junior volleyball stars have continued their intensive campaign on Day Two of the prestigious Nike Boston National Qualifiers, navigating a grueling schedule at the expansive Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The second day of pool play brought a mixture of dominant runs and hard-fought battles as the island’s representatives looked to secure their standing ahead of the knockout brackets.

The Paradise Hitters 13 girls' squad emerged as the undisputed form team of the Bermudian contingent, extending their unbeaten streak to four matches. They opened the morning with a clinical 2–0 demolition of Lockdown VBC 13 Robins, conceding fewer than twenty points across the entire match. Their resilience was truly tested in their second outing against GG 13 One, where they were forced to dig deep to secure a 25–23, 25–19 victory and maintain their perfect tournament record.

The Paradise Hitters 15 also enjoyed a fruitful Saturday, though their path to victory required significant mental fortitude. They began the day by edging out the Lockdown VBC 15 Ravens in a three-set thriller, showing immense composure to clinch the deciding frame 18–16. Buoyed by that momentum, they proceeded to dispatch Northeast 15 Black in straight sets before ending their day with a hard-earned 2–0 win over MGA 15's Stars, prevailing 26–24 in a tense final set.

In the boys' divisions, it proved to be a testing afternoon for the Big Wave Riders 15. After a promising start to the tournament, they endured a difficult run of three consecutive defeats. Following straight-sets losses to NYC VBA 15 Nomad and Boys CJVA 15 Black, they appeared to have found their rhythm against SVC 15 1 Boys. Despite forcing a third set with a spirited 25–21 comeback in the second, they eventually fell 15–7 in the tie-breaker.

The Big Wave Riders 16 faced similar adversity, dropping their opening two matches of the day to NE Storm 16 Monsoon and Boys CJVA 16 Onyx. However, the squad refused to end the session on a low note. In their final appearance of the day, they produced their most cohesive performance of the weekend to date, securing a convincing 2–0 victory over Boston United Boys 16 Select One. The 25–17, 25–21 win provides a vital psychological boost as the teams move into the final stages of competition tomorrow.
