History belongs to Myeisha Sharrieff and her Howard University teammates after the Bison captured their first-ever Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship. In a week defined by relentless depth and championship-level execution at the SPIRE Institute, Howard climbed to the top of the podium with a total of 856 points to secure the historic crown.
The Bermudian standout played a vital role in the team's success, beginning her campaign with a strong showing in the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle. Sharrieff clocked a personal best of 24.05 in the preliminaries to secure a spot in the consolation final, where she eventually finished 15th overall with a time of 24.21.
Sharrieff’s primary impact came in the backstroke events, where she consistently lowered her own benchmarks. During the 100 Yard Backstroke preliminaries, she delivered a blistering personal best of 55.67 to qualify third fastest for the showpiece championship final. In the final, she battled a world-class field to finish fourth in 55.93, banking significant points for Howard’s title charge.
The momentum continued into the 200 Yard Backstroke, where Sharrieff again rewrote her personal records. After qualifying for the consolation final with a time of 2:07.88, she produced a dominant swim in the evening session to touch the wall first. Her winning time of 2:05.82 secured ninth place overall and marked her third personal best of the week, capping off a monumental performance that helped steer Howard University into the record books.
