Bermuda’s Wenda Roberts has claimed a prestigious silver medal while competing in the USA Pickleball Golden Ticket in Las Vegas. Competing alongside American partner David Graves in the Mixed Doubles 3.5 division for the 65 plus age group, the pair navigated a challenging path through the tournament to reach the podium.
The duo began their campaign in Pool 2 with a clinical display in the opening round, defeating Susan and James Moore 15–9. After receiving a bye in the second round, Roberts and Graves faced a testing period in the middle of the group stage. They suffered consecutive 15–5 defeats, first falling to Andrea Mammen and Robert Murallo, and then to Margaret Bahnson and Thomas Dean. However, the pair showed remarkable resilience in the final round of pool play, securing their place in the knockout stages with a 15–7 victory over Marcia Garcia and James Sandusky.
The semi-finals saw Roberts and Graves produce their best form of the tournament as they faced Pauline Geraci and Terry McPartland. In a tightly contested match, the Bermudian-American partnership held their nerve to advance to the final with a 15–12 win.
The gold medal match set up a rematch against Mammen and Murallo, who had proved to be formidable opponents earlier in the day. While Roberts and Graves pushed their rivals close, they ultimately fell for a second time as the match concluded 11–8, 11–6. The silver medal represents another significant international achievement for Roberts, who continues to establish herself as a leading figure in the growing global pickleball scene.
