Bermudian swimming standout Logan Watson-Brown and her George Washington University (GW) teammates brought their regular-season campaign to a close this weekend with a challenging dual meet against Penn State. While the Colonials ultimately fell 180–97 against the Big Ten powerhouse, Watson-Brown’s individual and relay performances provided a significant silver lining ahead of the post-season.
The meet began with Watson-Brown setting the tone in the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay. Leading off the George Washington "A" team, the former University of Georgia standout provided a strong start as the quartet secured a second-place finish with a collective time of 1:43.10.
Watson-Brown’s form carried into the individual events, most notably in the Women’s 100 Yard Backstroke. In a tightly contested heat, she touched the wall in 56.31 seconds to claim second place. The time represents a solid improvement on her 57.47-second clocking against Towson earlier this month, signaling a timely peak in form as the conference championships approach.
The Bermudian also showcased her versatility in the freestyle sprints. Competing in the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle, she secured a fourth-place finish, stopping the clock in exactly 52.00 seconds.
The afternoon concluded with another impressive relay showing in the Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Swimming the third leg for the GW "A" team, Watson-Brown helped her squad navigate the distance in 3:26.43, once again securing second place on the podium.
With the regular season now in the rearview mirror, Watson-Brown and the Colonials will shift their focus to the Atlantic 10 Championships. Following a season that has seen her claim victories against the likes of Army and anchor winning relay teams, the junior will be eyeing a major impact on the conference stage later this month.
