Elan Daley and the No. 8 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols delivered a dominant final statement of the regular season on Friday, cruising to a 184-110 victory over Duke at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. In a meet condensed due to regional snow forecasts, the Lady Vols remained unfazed, controlling the water from the opening session to secure their fifth dual-meet win of the campaign.
Bermudian standout Daley played a pivotal role in Tennessee's sprint dominance throughout the afternoon. She led off the Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a blistering split, setting the tone for a quartet that included Julia Burroughs, Emily Armen, and Camille Spink. The "A" team touched the wall in a winning time of 1:28.60, holding off a late surge from the Blue Devils to secure maximum points for the Big Orange.
In her individual assignments, Daley showcased her versatility across the middle-distance and sprint freestyle disciplines. She secured a fifth-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle, stopping the clock in a sharp 48.95 seconds. Earlier in the meet, Daley battled through a competitive field in the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing sixth overall with a resilient time of 1:48.24 to contribute vital depth to the Lady Vols' scoring total.
The victory was part of a wider program sweep, as the Tennessee men also defeated Duke by a score of 198-88. The Lady Vols' performance was highlighted by multiple event wins from Camille Spink and Ella Jansen, ensuring the team enters the postseason with significant momentum.
Tennessee will now turn its attention to the SEC Championships, which are set to take place in their home pool in Knoxville from February 16th - 21st.
