CG 5 ACT 3
The Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League continued its high-octane start to the new year as CG secured a hard-fought 5-3 victory over ACT at the PCC Hockey Rink. In a match that showcased the league's trademark offensive flair, a total of eight goals kept the local crowd engaged throughout a contest defined by momentum shifts and clinical finishing.
Jeremy Estey was the undisputed star of the evening, delivering a masterclass in goal-scoring to propel his side toward the three points. Estey opened the scoring in the first period, and while ACT briefly leveled the score through Noah Vieira, the CG talisman struck again before the interval to ensure his team held the advantage. His ability to find space in high-traffic areas proved to be the decisive factor in an opening frame where both sides looked dangerous on the counter-attack.
The second period saw CG tighten their grip on the fixture. Estey completed his hat-trick with another sharp finish, further cementing his reputation as one of the league's most lethal forwards. Andrew Leavy added a fourth for CG later in the period, providing the cushion they would eventually need as ACT refused to concede the result without a fight.
ACT mounted a spirited comeback in the final period, attempting to overturn a three-goal deficit. Townie Jackson and Shane Matchett both found the back of the net in quick succession to bring the score within reach, but Nathan Kowalski’s strike for CG proved to be the final blow. The victory moves CG closer to the mid-table pack, while ACT will be left to rue a slow start in the second period that ultimately left them with too much ground to make up.
