The title race in the Continental Bowling League took another dramatic turn during Week 18 action at the Warwick Bowl, as the chasing pack capitalized on a truncated schedule for the league leaders.
While a highly anticipated clash between the table-topping Nifty Rollers and seventh-placed The Invaders was postponed, the door was left wide open for the Under Dawgs to narrow the gap at the summit.
The second-placed Dawgs made no mistake, delivering a clinical performance to dismantle the fourth-placed Astronauts with a dominant 22-5 victory. The result piles significant pressure on the Rollers, who now face a mounting fixture backlog as the 2025/26 season enters its final stretch.
The battle for the top three remained equally fierce as the Odd Balls strengthened their grip on third place. Facing eighth-placed New Hope, the Odd Balls produced a professional display to secure an 18-9 win. The victory ensures they remain firmly in the hunt for a top-two finish, creating further daylight between themselves and the mid-table pack.
Elsewhere, the Cubs continued their steady climb up the standings. Sitting in fifth place, they proved far too strong for ninth-placed Sunset, recording a comprehensive 23-4 win. The defeat leaves Sunset rooted to the foot of the table after another difficult night on the lanes.
With sixth-placed Spicenix taking their scheduled bye week, the mid-table scramble remains tightly contested. All eyes now turn to next week’s session at Warwick Lanes to see if the Nifty Rollers can find a window to defend their lead or if the Under Dawgs’ momentum will finally see a change at the top.
