The hierarchy of the Second Spring Senior Bowling League was shaken this week at Warwick Lanes as league leaders Blue Angels suffered a surprising setback at the hands of the mid-table Pinsplitters.
In a clinical performance, the sixth-placed Pinsplitters ignored the form book to claim a 3-1 victory over the pace-setters. The result marks a rare moment of vulnerability for the Blue Angels, who found themselves unable to find their rhythm against an inspired opposition.
The biggest beneficiaries of the leaders' slip-up were the Star Lites. Currently sitting in second place, they applied maximum pressure by securing a comprehensive 4-0 sweep over fourth-placed Last Pin.
The dominant victory significantly narrows the gap at the top of the standings, turning the title race into a high-stakes battle as the season progresses.
Elsewhere in the lanes, the New Comers continued their steady climb. The fifth-placed side mirrored the leaders' scoreline but found themselves on the right side of it, defeating the seventh-placed Drifters 3-1.
The Islanders, currently holding third place, were forced to watch from the sidelines this week as they took their scheduled Bye.
