Neil Paynter has returned to the leadership of the St. George’s Cricket Club having been asked to return by the membership and committee following the resignation of Misheal Paynter earlier this year.
Paynter was nominated and accepted, he ran unopposed.
Paynter stating that his commitment to the club never truly wavered despite his absence from the management committee.
Paynter, who previously served as the club's president for a record period, emphasized that his time away was only from the official management committee structure, not from the organization itself.
"My time away from the club, I really wasn't away from the club, to be honest," Paynter stated. "The only thing I was away from was actually serving on the management committee".
He affirmed that he remained engaged, noting, "I continued to be involved when needed".
Looking ahead to his new term, Paynter outlined a focus on collaborative leadership and continuing the progress already underway.
"I would say in returning my goal is to work alongside the current management team and members," he said. His aim is to guide the team as they continue to do "the great work for our club".
His return is seen as providing stability and experienced leadership to the historic club.
