LSU Tigers men's basketball, guided by Associate Head Coach David Patrick, secured a hard-fought 78-69 overtime victory over Boston College in the highly competitive ACC/SEC Challenge at the Conte Forum, thanks to the late-game heroics of point guard Dedan Thomas Jr.
The game was an intense back-and-forth affair that required extra time, and it was Dedan Thomas Jr. who delivered the decisive plays in the closing moments of regulation to force the tie.
Thomas Jr. scored the final four points of regulation, demonstrating his composure and clutch ability to ensure the Tigers remained in the contest.
The point guard carried his momentum directly into the extra period, scoring the first four points of overtime to give LSU a crucial early advantage.
Thomas’s bucket and two free throws in overtime immediately gave LSU a 65-61 advantage. He then followed that up by orchestrating the offense, recording an assist on a Mike Nwoko bucket to complete a dominant 10-0 run that put LSU firmly ahead with a 67-61 lead.
The run proved to be the decisive factor, pushing the Tigers to a 78-69 victory in the road challenge game. The win is a significant result for LSU as they continue their early season run under Associate Head Coach David Patrick.
