Cechini's Dominate Freestyle at Winter Championships

The National Sports Center Pool was a beehive of activity this weekend as the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association hosted the Winter Age Group Championships, with multiple personal best times set across the senior freestyle events.
The 400 SC Meter Freestyle events were highlighted by the performance of the Cechini siblings.
Gaby Cechini secured the victory in the Women’s 15 & Over division, touching the wall with a remarkable Personal Best time of 4:34.97. She was joined on the podium by two other swimmers who hit new personal highs: Katherine Wheddon finished second with a Personal Best of 4:38.83, and Jorgia White was third with a Personal Best of 4:45.48.
In the Men’s 15 & Over division, Thomas Cechini claimed the win with a blistering Personal Best time of 3:59.73, breaking the four-minute mark. Logan Jones was a distant second, also clocking a Personal Best time of 4:14.50, while Sam Williamson finished third in 4:14.57.
The individual success continued in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke events:
Marleigh Howes took the Women’s 15 & Over title, touching the wall in a Personal Best time of 1:19.44. Lila Connolly finished second with a time of 1:24.07, and Freya Lau finished third in 1:28.13.
In the Men’s 15 & Over 100 SC Meter Breaststroke, Connor Hupman secured the win with a time of 1:13.18. Joseph Moniz claimed second in 1:21.06, and Gianluca Bortoli finished third in 1:21.64.
The numerous Personal Best times recorded underscore the high level of competition and training being maintained by Bermuda's top swimmers.
