Round One of the 8th Portugal Grand Prix got underway, hosted by Vilamoura Sailing, bringing together an elite group of young sailors in the highly competitive ILCA 7 fleet, including Bermuda’s Sebastian Kempe.
The prestigious regatta, which attracts top international sailors preparing for major events, managed to complete just one race on the opening day.
Bermuda’s Sebastian Kempe, who is an experienced competitor on the international circuit, finished 17th in the lone race sailed.
Racing conditions in Vilamoura often feature competitive winds and swell, providing a challenging environment for the sailors.
Competition is scheduled to continue through to November 30th, giving Kempe ample opportunity to climb the leaderboard over the coming days.
