Day Two of the Bermuda PickleBall National Championships at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium saw the Women's Doubles divisions take to the courts, with several strong results recorded, particularly in the competitive senior categories.
The Women's Doubles 3.5 (Age 50+) Division featured some determined action across the pool play.
In Pool A, the pairing of Val Stevenson and Samantha Sangster secured a clear victory in their opening match, defeating Sue Chiappa and Liz Wright with a comfortable score of 11-5. Stevenson is a known commodity in the senior ranks, having recently secured a silver medal in the Women's Doubles 3.5 (Age 50+) division at a pre-World Cup tournament.
Meanwhile, in Pool B action, Wenda Roberts and Michelle Jackson delivered a similarly dominant performance. They won their match convincingly 11-3 against Pearl Ingram and Tuck Bouwens. Roberts' strong form follows her recent success, which included capturing double gold medals in the 50-plus and 65-plus women's singles divisions at a recent international event.
The results indicate the high level of competition within the rapidly growing Seniors division of the sport in Bermuda.
