Bermudian player Anton Harris-Gilbert has officially begun his campaign in the British National Basketball League (BBL) Division One, coming off the bench for the Teesside Lions in their recent fixture against Liverpool.
Harris-Gilbert, and the Teesside club, got another taste of the competitive Division One action at the Olympia Sports Complex.
The Lions faced a tough challenge from the home side and ultimately went down by a nine-point margin, losing 71–62.
Harris-Gilbert entered the game from the bench as the coaching staff looked to integrate the new acquisition into the team rotation. The Bermudian played 5 minutes and 11 seconds in total.
While his appearance was brief, it marks a significant step into one of the highest leagues of British basketball. Harris-Gilbert went 0 for 1 from the field in his initial minutes on court as he begins to find his rhythm with his new teammates.
The Teesside Lions will look to bounce back quickly as they continue their Division One schedule, with Harris-Gilbert aiming to increase his court time and contribution.
