The National Sports Centre was the stage for a lively triple header of Bermuda Field Hockey action, featuring drama, comebacks, and hat-tricks across three compelling fixtures.
Knights 4 Hurricanes 2
The opening match saw the Knights secure a hard-fought 4-2 victory over the Hurricanes, thanks in large part to the clinical finishing of Hemijah Bean. The Hurricanes initially seized the advantage in the seventeenth minute when Tyler Smith converted a penalty stroke to make it 1-0. However, the Knights levelled the score right on the stroke of half-time as Bean netted a penalty stroke of his own, sending the teams into the break tied at 1-1.
The Knights wasted no time in the second half, with Bean putting them ahead just two minutes after the restart with a goal from a penalty corner. Alan Gilbertson extended the lead to 3-1 in the thirty-fourth minute with a well-taken field goal. The Hurricanes attempted a comeback when Marte DeSouza scored from a penalty corner in the forty-ninth minute to pull the score back to 3-2. The Knights swiftly extinguished the threat though, as Bean completed his hat-trick in the fifty-sixth minute, once again scoring from a penalty corner to seal the 4-2 win.
Ravens 1 Budgies 1
In the second contest, the Ravens and the Budgies fought out an evenly matched 1-1 draw. The Ravens drew first blood in the ninth minute when Antoinette Rabain scored a field goal, giving her side a narrow lead that they successfully defended until the half-time whistle.
The Budgies pressed for an equaliser and eventually found it in the forty-fourth minute, with Tse Smith converting a penalty corner to level the score at 1-1. Neither team could find a late winner, resulting in the points being split.
Pink Robins 0 Griffins 4
The final match saw the Griffins dominate the Pink Robins with a comprehensive 4-0 shutout victory.
Isaac Davis was the star of the show, starting his performance in the fourteenth minute with a field goal to give the Griffins the lead. Davis then doubled the advantage six minutes later by converting a penalty corner. Owen Curley added a third field goal in the twenty-seventh minute, ensuring the Griffins held a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.
Davis completed his hat-trick in the thirty-third minute, scoring the only goal of the second half from another penalty corner to cap the 4-0 win and a memorable day of hockey.
