The Houston Red Storm (3-2) delivered a monumental performance on the road, defeating the undefeated and nationally ranked #10 Alamo City All-Stars (3-1) in a thrilling 97-93 victory at Antioch Gym in American Basketball Association action.
The Red Storm clinched the victory thanks to a decisive mid-range dagger hit by captain Dylan Spriggins with just 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter, capping off an intense battle between the in-state rivals.
Head Coach Terence Dill praised the team’s mental toughness to handle the rally, "This is a monumental win for our program," said Coach Dill. "Alamo City showed why they are ranked tenth, but our guys refused to lose. When they hit that 10-point run, we locked in, and we responded like champions. Drayton’s commitment to dominate the boards was the heart of our defense tonight."
The Red Storm established an early rhythm, turning a 12-11 deficit into a comfortable 22-14 lead with an 11-2 run. They maintained that advantage into the break, leading 54-49 at halftime. However, the game tightened dramatically in the fourth quarter when the All-Stars responded with a furious 10-point run to briefly take an 85-82 lead, testing Houston's resolve. The Red Storm held firm, relying on their interior dominance and clutch scoring to close the door.
