IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League exploded into action with a thrilling doubleheader at the PCC Hockey Rink, delivering high drama that included a dramatic overtime finish and a phenomenal late comeback.

CG 6 Spine & Sport 7

The night's opener saw Spine & Sport defeat CG in a sudden-death shootout, winning 7-6 after a remarkable rally forced the game past regulation time.

CG looked comfortable for much of the contest, building a significant lead behind the brilliance of Jeremy Estey, who netted a hat-trick for the side. Other CG goals came from Nathan Kowalski, Andrew Leavy, and Dallas Montgomery, giving them a commanding advantage entering the final period.

However, Spine & Sport mounted an extraordinary comeback effort in the third period. Mathieu Desjardins (who finished with a hat-trick) and Christopher Merritt (who scored twice) led the charge. The team rattled off four unanswered goals in the final frame, including a critical strike from a substitute player, forcing the game into overtime. With no scoring in the extra period, the contest went to a shootout, where Christopher Merritt slotted the decisive goal to seal the incredible victory for Spine & Sport.

Positive Image Dental 4 ACT 5

In the second match of the doubleheader, ACT edged out Positive Image Dental in a closely fought contest, winning 5-4.

ACT established an early lead with goals from Shane Matchett and Samuel Vieira in the first period, sandwiching a strike from Positive Image Dental's Jordan Gunter. The back-and-forth action continued into the second period with goals from ACT's Mike Travis, Louis Sujir for Positive Image Dental, and Vieira's second for ACT.

Heading into the final period, ACT held a slender 5-3 lead after Anthony Kapsimalis struck late in the second. Despite a late push, with Louis Sujir scoring his second goal for Positive Image Dental in the final frame, ACT held on to secure the narrow 5-4 victory, claiming two valuable points to start their campaign.
