Warwick Academy swept all six trophies on offer at the Middle and Senior School Swimming Championships held at the National Sports Centre Pool, winning both the Girls’ and Boys’ divisions — as well as the overall titles — in convincing fashion.
Warwick Academy claimed the Middle School Girls’ Division title with 150 points, finishing well ahead of second-placed Saltus Grammar School on 90 points, who edged Bermuda High School (BHS) by just two points for the runner-up spot.
In the Boys’ Division, Warwick were again dominant, winning with 190 points. Saltus Grammar School placed second with 118 points, while Somersfield Academy finished third with 52 points.
Warwick comfortably secured the Overall Middle School Championship with a combined total of 340 points, followed by Saltus on 208 and Somersfield on 131.
Warwick Academy’s Colette Durkin and Somersfield Academy’s Eva Desjardins each claimed two gold medals in the Under-13 Girls Division. Durkin won the butterfly and individual medley, while Desjardins triumphed in the freestyle and breaststroke. Saltus Grammar School’s Sloane Wright won the backstroke event.
In the Under-13 Boys Division, Walker Smith was outstanding, winning all three of his individual races — freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley. Saltus Grammar School’s Kanyon Armstrong won the backstroke, while Warwick’s Lewis Macfarlane captured gold in the breaststroke.
The Over-13 Girls Division was dominated by Warwick Academy, led by Allison Steynor, who won three events — the backstroke, butterfly, and individual medley. Teammate Lorrin Roopra added another gold in the breaststroke, while Saltus student Zara Bule took top honours in the freestyle.
In the Over-13 Boys Division, Ethan Smith powered Warwick to victory with wins in the freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley. Teammates Aric Argent and Jacob Leclerc completed the clean sweep by winning the breaststroke and backstroke respectively.
Warwick Academy continued their dominance in the Senior School meet, cruising to massive victories in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions.
The Warwick girls amassed 162 points to finish well ahead of Bermuda High School (76 points), while The Berkeley Institute and Saltus Grammar School tied for third with 23 points apiece.
The Warwick boys were even more commanding, racking up 205 points — leaving Saltus Grammar School (73 points) and Somersfield Academy (14 points) far behind.
Overall, Warwick Academy finished with an impressive combined total of 367 points, with Saltus second on 96 and BHS third on 76.
BHS standout Scarlett Spurling delivered a strong performance in the Under-16 Girls Division, winning three golds in the freestyle, breaststroke, and individual medley. Teammate Isla Cooze claimed the butterfly title, while Warwick’s Lillian Collette won the backstroke.
For the boys, Warwick’s Noah Fulton won a hat-trick of golds in the backstroke, butterfly, and individual medley. Teammate Jasper Lau added another victory in the breaststroke, while Ben Troskie of Somersfield Academy broke Warwick’s sweep by winning the Under-16 Freestyle.
Warwick completed their dominance in the Over-16 Girls Division, sweeping the podium. Elena Fulton won the backstroke and butterfly events and finished second to teammate Jorgia White in the individual medley. Gabriella Esposito captured gold in both the freestyle and breaststroke and placed second to Fulton in the backstroke.
In the Over-16 Boys Division, Logan Jones led the way with victories in the freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly. Teammate Jaime Macfarlane secured gold in the individual medley and breaststroke, rounding out Warwick’s clean sweep of the division.
