Bermuda’s Beach Volleyball pair of Sean Tucker and Benjamin Barnett experienced a demanding second day at the 9th stage of the North America, Central America, and the Caribbean (NORCECA) Beach Volleyball Tour, but concluded the day with a hard-earned victory to secure a shot at the top ten.
The Bermudian duo opened their day with their final Pool B match, facing a strong challenge from the Dominican Republic’s Melvin Antonio de Jesus and Albino Ramon Francisco De Jesus. After a competitive 28-minute battle, Tucker and Barnett were defeated in straight sets, 21-13, 21-17. The loss positioned them in the 9th–12th place bracket of the knockout rounds.
Facing elimination from the chance to finish inside the top ten, Tucker and Barnett returned to the sand to face Jared Brown and Cole Sommer from the British Virgin Islands in the 9th–12th place play-off.
The Bermudian pair delivered a clutch performance, securing a victory in 31 minutes. They dominated the first set 21-12, but were pushed to the limit in the second, finally clinching the set 23-21.
The crucial win propels Tucker and Barnett into the 9th–10th place final, where they will play for their best possible finish at this stage of the NORCECA Tour.
