We continue the series today with Jahtuere Trott
Your Full Name: Jahtuere Seriah Trott
Your Team/Club: Lindos Tigers
Best pre-game hype song: I don't have a hype song, but I do pray.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be? Read people's minds
How did you first get into your sport? I first got into netball, playing in primary school at Northlands primary.
Who has been your biggest inspiration or role model, both in and out of your sport? My twin sister Jahkenya. She has had knee surgery which sat her on the bench for a while. But she's back like she never left! Her determination and drive to stay fit and to get back on the court is admirable.
What is the most valuable lesson your sport has taught you? You win some, you lose some.
Tell us about your proudest moment as an athlete so far. Winning the 23/24 league title with the Lindos Tigers an undefeated season!
Describe your training regimen. What does a typical week look like for you? A typical week for me is walking every morning, netball training twice a week.
What’s your game-day routine? Any specific superstitions or rituals you have to follow? No superstition or rituals. A good breakfast and making sure I get a good warm up before the game.
What goes through your mind in the final moments of a close game or race? Strategically, if we are leading and have possession of the ball. I think try to keep possession and run minutes off the clock. If we are down, we need to stay focused, make quick and accurate passes and to get the ball in the net as quickly as posible.
How do you handle a tough loss or a disappointing performance? Honestly? A tough loss plays in my mind for about 2 days. Good thing is there are more games to be played where there is room for improvement and possibly the win.
What's your go-to activity when you're not training or competing? Anything sports related! I also love to do cross word puzzles.
If you weren't an athlete, what would you be doing? Anything to do with animals.
What's one thing most people don't know about you? I was born without a joint in my right thumb. Just a straight bone.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party (can be anyone, living or historical)? God, we have a LOT to talk about! What better way to do it over a feast.
What advice would you give to a young person aspiring to follow in your footsteps? If you really have a passion for netball stick to it! Learn all you can, train hard and give 100% every time you get on the court.
What's one thing you hope to achieve in the next five years, both in your sport and in life? I'm 32 so I hope I'll be married, starting a family so that I can pass on the athletic traits. The show must go on!
Finish this sentence: "My sport means..." An aching body after the age of 30...BUT well worth it! :)
