Bermudian volleyball player Tyler Pethick and his St. Andrew's College Under-16 teammates have started their season in style, returning home as champions of the Centennial CVI Tournament in Guelph, Ontario.
The team's success was built on a dominant performance from the outset. St. Andrew's went undefeated in pool play, not dropping a single set against St. Mary's HS, the host Centennial CVI, and Orangeville DSS. Their straight-set victories saw them advance to the semifinals with strong momentum.
In the final four, they continued their relentless form, sweeping aside Owen Sound DSS with a convincing 2-0 win to book their place in the championship final.
The final proved to be their toughest test of the day, as they faced John F. Ross CVI. St. Andrew's narrowly lost the first set 27–25 in a nail-biting opener. However, the team, with Pethick's help, regrouped and showed incredible resilience, storming back to win the next two sets 25–16 and 15–6 to claim the tournament title.
The victory serves as an excellent start to the season for the promising U16 squad, who demonstrated strong serving, steady defence, and consistent team play throughout the tournament.
