Bermuda's Gavin Manders and Benjamin Jones have been crowned the Men's Doubles Champions at the Jamaica International Pickleball Open, capping a successful tournament for the Bermudian duo.
The title run came after Manders's campaign in the Men's Singles Open came to an end in the semi-finals. He was defeated in a hard-fought three-set match by the top seed, Ernesto Fajardo, with the final score 10-12, 11-5, 11-7.
However, Manders quickly regrouped with his doubles partner Jones to embark on their championship journey. They started strongly, defeating Phillip Thompson and Joel Yapp 15-3 in the first round.
Their momentum continued with a narrow 15-13 victory over Armando Ferreira and Jamaal Hay in the quarter-finals. The semi-final match proved to be another tight contest, with Manders and Jones edging out Brandon Tom and Django Chassang 16-14 to book their spot in the final.
In the Gold Medal match, they faced a formidable pair in Kobi Stiebel and Ernesto Fajardo, but Manders and Jones delivered a dominant performance to secure the championship with a straight-sets victory, 11-4, 11-7.
