IslandStats.com
Day Two of competition at the 2025 Island Games in Orkney saw Bermuda continue to impress across various sports, with some significant individual achievements and team victories.

Football Teams Maintain Perfect Records

Bermuda's football teams continued their winning ways. The Women's National team secured their second victory, defeating Isle of Wight 2-0. After a scoreless first half, goals from Jaden Masters and K'shaela Burch-Waldron sealed the win, keeping their perfect record intact. The Men's Under-23 team had also secured a victory on Day One.

Carrick Marches to Squash Final

The highlight of the day came in the squash courts, where Taylor Carrick fought through two gruelling five-set thrillers to reach the Men's Singles final. In the quarter-finals, Carrick staged a remarkable comeback from two sets down to edge Julian Jervis from the Cayman Islands 3-2 (10-12, 6-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-8). He then replicated the feat in the semi-finals, narrowly beating Ivan Flores from Gibraltar 3-2 (11-9, 7-11, 11-4, 5-11, 11-9), demonstrating incredible resilience and determination. In other squash action, Neil Pohlman advanced in the Men's Singles 17/18 Playoff with a 3-0 win over James Peters of St Helena.

Track & Field and Lawn Bowls Results

On the track, Sean Trott competed in the Men's 10,000m race, finishing 5th with a time of 32:30.36. In Lawn Bowls, David Leach continued his strong individual form in the Men's Singles, bouncing back from a loss to Jersey to defeat Andy Walterson from Shetland Islands 2-0. However, the Women's Pairs duo of Judith Barton and Tamara Leach faced tough opposition, recording two defeats against teams from Shetland Islands and Orkney.

Golfers Positioned for Success

Bermuda's golfers also made a solid start in their individual events. In the Men's Individual, Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi are currently T10th after both shooting opening rounds of 71. Jevon Roberts is in 42nd (81) and Jamie Macmillan 50th (85). For the Ladies Individual, Sienna Mosquera sits in 12th place after a first-round 82, with Katrin Burnie in 13th (84). Tracy Burgess and Morgan Lightbourne are T25th (91).

Mixed Results in Badminton

In Badminton Team Event, Bermuda secured a 4-1 victory over Western Isles, with Aaron Simmons and Emma Moran-Lee winning their singles matches, and the Men's and Ladies' Doubles pairs of Daljeet Singh Gadiwale/Aaron Simmons and Dezirae Darrell/Jin Sun also taking wins. However, in the 13th/14th Place match, Bermuda was narrowly edged 3-2 by Ynys Môn, despite Emma Moran-Lee's singles victory and Dezirae Darrell/Somers Stevenson's Ladies' Doubles win.

Bermuda continues to push for its first medal at the Games, with Taylor Carrick's final appearance now a significant target.
