Bermuda's beach volleyball contingent has faced a challenging opening day at the fourth stage of the 2025 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Mexico. Both the men's and women's pairings began the senior competition with 0-2 records after tough pool play encounters.
In Women's Pool C, Megan Hands and Natalie Gazzard battled hard but ultimately fell 2-0 to Cristina Almeida and Amber Bennet of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The match, lasting 27 minutes, saw scores of 21-14, 21-7. Later in the day, the Bermudian duo faced Canada's Devin Corah and Alicia Thibodeau, again losing 2-0 (21-8, 21-12) in a 26-minute contest.
On the men's side in Pool C, Kyle Hamilton and Connor Somerville also encountered strong opposition in their opening match. They went down 2-0 to Canada's Colin Lash and Dylan Devecseri with set scores of 21-7, 21-14 in 28 minutes. Their second match of Day One saw them take on Rubén Mora and Denis López from Nicaragua, where they were defeated 2-0 (21-11, 21-8) in a 33-minute battle.
Despite the difficult start, both Bermudian teams will be looking to bounce back against elite regional opponents as the tournament continues this weekend.
