Just a week after their seismic upset of the previously undefeated Somerset Lady Trojans, the PHC Lady Zebras found themselves on the losing side of a captivating seven-goal thriller, edged 4-3 by the Dandy Stars in Bermuda Football Association Women’s League action at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence Field.
The Dandy Stars wasted little time making their mark, taking the lead in the 20th minute through Robin-Valana Pearman. Their advantage was doubled just nine minutes later when Jessica Furtado found the back of the net. However, the PHC Lady Zebras, showing their newfound resilience, pulled a goal back in the 43rd minute courtesy of Janiya Sealey, sending the Dandy Stars into the break with a narrow 2-1 lead.
The second half continued the end-to-end action. The PHC Lady Zebras drew level in the 52nd minute with a strike from Khylah Brangman, setting up a tense final period. But the Dandy Stars quickly restored their lead in the 72nd minute through Kalila Daley. The goals kept coming thick and fast, and just one minute later, the scores were level yet again as Jasmine Spence found the net for the PHC Lady Zebras.
However, it was the Dandy Stars who had the final say in this dramatic encounter. With the clock ticking down, Jahde Simmons scored the decisive winner in the 81st minute, securing a hard-fought 4-3 victory for the Dandy Stars. The result underlines the competitive nature of the Women's League, proving that no game can be taken for granted.
