Netball League Delivers Thrilling Encounters at Bernard's Park

The Bermuda Netball Association’s Summer League season continued last night at Bernard's Park, serving up a series of competitive matches across both the Women's and Co-ed Divisions.

In the Women’s Division opener, PHC delivered a strong performance, defeating the Phoenix Flames 18-14. PHC's victory was largely orchestrated by Tyra Simmons, who scored 13 goals. Debre Evans, named Best Attacker, added 3 goals, with Terita Bean contributing two. Sarafina Woolridge-Burns was a standout, earning both Best Defender and MVP honours for PHC. For the Phoenix Flames, Eshe Grant, named Best Attacker, scored 9 goals, and Chelzea Somner added 5. Imani Smith was their Best Defender, and Sanaa Grant their MVP.

In the other Women’s Division clash, K-Net Assets secured a decisive 23-12 victory over the St. George’s Cricket Club. Denise Truter led K-Net Assets with an impressive 17 goals, while Best Attacker Candace Paynter netted 6. Allison King was named their Best Defender, and Kaetlyn Thompson their MVP. For St. George’s, Nisaiah Berkeley scored 8 goals, supported by Best Defender Stacy-Ann Brown with 4. Riley Jones was their Best Attacker, and Coriah Simmons the MVP.

The Co-ed Division opener saw the Storm Chasers defeat BHB 25-19. MVP Antione Williams was the driving force for the Storm Chasers, scoring an impressive 22 goals. Nabiilah Nasir added 2, and Debre Evans scored once. Kaamilah Nasir was named Best Attacker, and Amaury Majors Best Defender. For BHB, Sheldon Bahadosingh scored 10 goals, and Charlene Bogle added 9. Stacy-Ann Brown was their Best Attacker, while Nigel Burgess was named both Best Defender and MVP.

The final match of the night saw the Goal Diggers dominate the Bean Counting Netballerz with a commanding 31-5 victory. Best Attacker Coriah Simmons was prolific for the Goal Diggers, netting 17 goals. Paul Simons and Kiante Lightbourne both added 8 goals each. Asante Chapman was their Best Defender, and Jaman Lottimore the MVP. For the Bean Counting Netballerz, Best Attacker Denise Truter scored 4 goals, with Khianda Pearman-Watson adding the other. Marnus Slabbert was their Best Defender, and Nick Borzenko the MVP.

The action-packed evening highlighted the competitive spirit and talent across Bermuda's netball community, promising more exciting matchups as the Summer League continues.
