Kaden Hopkins made a strong start to the 2025 Grand Prix USL Road Race in Guadeloupe, finishing a commendable fifth in the challenging Stage One.
Representing US Lamentin, Hopkins tackled the Goyave - Goyave 100.4 km course, which is known for its demanding terrain.
The stage culminated in a tight sprint finish, with Meving Gene proving to be the fastest, clocking a winning time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 33 seconds (2:10:33). Hopkins was right in the thick of the chasing pack, crossing the line just five seconds behind the winner in a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 38 seconds (2:10:38).
To finish within the top five of a competitive international road race is an impressive feat for the young Bermudian rider. Being just a handful of seconds behind the stage winner demonstrates Hopkins' strong form and ability to compete at this level.
The Grand Prix USL Road Race continues with further stages in Guadeloupe, and Hopkins' performance in this opening stage will undoubtedly give him confidence as he aims for further success in the days ahead. Cycling fans back home will be keenly following his progress in this prestigious event.
